Everyone posts. Almost no one gets patients from it
Men's health awareness in November started with Movember, born in Australia in 2003 when a group of friends grew moustaches for the month. In Brazil the same idea became Novembro Azul, focused on prostate cancer, and it is a real search moment, not just social media noise:
Semrush data also shows interest in the campaign drops to almost nothing for the rest of the year. The window is short. Miss it and you wait another twelve months.
Yet most clinics spend that window on a generic post that looks exactly like the one from the pharmacy, the bank and the gym down the street. Nobody remembers who posted it, and a post nobody remembers never turns into a booking.
What turns an awareness campaign into appointments
The gap between likes and bookings comes down to three practical things.
1. Answer the real question, not the slogan
A man searching online doesn't want to hear "get checked". He wants to know at what age he should see a urologist, and whether a PSA test is enough. There is an honest nuance here that few clinics explain: medical bodies don't fully agree. In Brazil, for example, the national urology society recommends evaluation from 50 (or 45 for higher risk groups), while the Ministry of Health does not recommend mass screening of men without symptoms and favors an individual decision made with a doctor. Explaining that clearly builds far more trust than another ribbon graphic.
2. Give people somewhere to go
A post with no next step is applause, not a calendar. Every piece should say what to do next: a booking link, a WhatsApp or call button, or a dedicated men's health check-up page with the tests, address and opening hours. Sending everyone to your Instagram bio and hoping for the best is not a plan.
3. Show up when he searches
A post disappears from the feed in a day. Search keeps going all month. A Google Ads search campaign for "urologist" plus your city or neighborhood, together with an up-to-date Google Business Profile, puts your clinic in front of people who have already decided to take care of their health.
Awareness month is not a free pass on advertising rules
Medical advertising is regulated almost everywhere, and an awareness campaign is still advertising. Brazil's Federal Council of Medicine, for instance, updated its rules in a resolution that took effect in March 2024: every ad must identify the doctor and their registration number, prices and promotions are now allowed with conditions, and promises of results or sensationalism remain off-limits. Stock photos are fine, so you never need to expose a patient.
Wherever you practice, the safe pattern is the same: inform, don't frighten; identify who is responsible; and never promise an outcome. When in doubt, check your medical board's advertising guidance before you publish.
The short version
Honest content that answers the real question, a clear place to book, and a presence in search. That is what turns an awareness month into a full calendar.
There is still time: November has barely started, and a well-built search campaign can go live in a few days. If you want help planning it, IKOEH builds digital marketing for clinics focused on appointments, not likes.
Frequently asked questions
Can a clinic advertise the price of a men's health check-up?
It depends on your country's rules. In Brazil, the Federal Council of Medicine has allowed doctors to publish consultation prices and run promotions since March 2024, with conditions, and every ad must identify the responsible doctor. Check your own medical board's guidance before publishing.
At what age should men start seeing a urologist?
Guidelines differ, which is exactly why it is worth explaining to patients. Brazil's urology society recommends evaluation from 50, or 45 for higher risk groups, while the Ministry of Health does not recommend mass screening of men without symptoms. The right answer is an individual decision made with a doctor.
Is it too late to advertise if November has already started?
No. A Google Ads search campaign can go live within days, and searches related to the campaign continue through the month. What doesn't work is waiting until the last week, when the window is already closing.
